The quarterly Water Career Pathways Advisory Board Meeting was held at the Santa Clara Valley Water District office on December 3rd, 2015. The consortium has made great progress in developing additional programs for college students and making courses available to high school students in the future. There will be information available soon for our upcoming events in the Spring and Summer.

Math Professor Tue Rust from Los Medanos Community College presented his method in developing curriculum in conjunction with Baywork at an event held at West Valley College on November 6th, 2015.
Tue screened a video produced by Baywork and East Bay Municipal Utility District titled “The Perfect Storm”, explaining the process behind the creation of the video and developing curriculum for students that will help them to understand the importance of mathematics in relation to the water industry.
Attending instructors from local community colleges worked alongside Tue in a workshop to develop their own example of contextualized curriculum.
Team-building activities demonstrated how a team with member strengths in multiple areas is necessary for the planning, promotion, and execution of such a project.
Many thanks to Tue for an excellent training session and his expertise in helping educators to move forward with the WCP Consortium’s mission to bring awareness to the water industry’s needs. We look forward to continuing to work with Tue in the future!
The WCP team attended career fairs at West Valley College in Saratoga and Pipe Trades Training Center in San Jose last week. There was an impressive turnout at both locations, and we were excited to talk to students and provide them with information on a career in the water industry!
